Announcing the LeafFilter Graduate Student Scholarship Winner

This year marked the first annual LeafFilter Gutter Protection Graduate Student Scholarship. Applicants were asked to write a 350-500 word personal essay, choosing one of two prompts in order to compete for a $500 scholarship to go toward books or tuition. Each of the graduate students who applied were outstanding candidates, and we’d like to thank those who took the time to share their personal stories with us. Hundreds of graduate college students applied, which made for a very tight competition!

With such strong candidates, it all came down to creativity, original content, and adherence to the essay topic. So, without further ado, we are pleased to announce Amanda Pitre as this year’s graduate student scholarship winner.

Announcing Amanda Pitre as the LeafFilter Graduate Student Scholarship winner

Amanda will be attending the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. In her essay, she describes the journey she took to keep the focus on academics, even through the toughest of times, and how she landed on the path toward serving others through medicine. In her well-written essay, Amanda spoke of the sheer amount of strength, determination, and curiosity it took to reach her goals.

As an incoming graduate student, Amanda has already reached an impressive milestone as the first college graduate in her family. She works hard to honor her family, and their culture, by helping others using her knowledge and skills. Her empathy and drive to make a difference have led to Amanda realizing her dreams, which should serve as an inspiration to all.

Amanda’s hard work is sure to pay off, and we’re excited to follow her progress in graduate school and beyond, as she begins her career. More than that, we’re proud to award Amanda our very first LeafFilter Gutter Protection Graduate Student Scholarship. Congratulations, Amanda!
